Get Free Airline Miles With 0% APR Credit Card Offers
There are many credit cards offering 0% APR on balance transfers for as long as a year! You can use these basically free loans to earn some airline miles or hotel points.
I recently opened a credit card account with 0% APR on balance transfers for 9 months. I made a balance transfer to my American Express Starwood Credit Card account, $10000 total.
I can ask AMEX to mail me a check because I have credit balance of $10000. I could then use that money to open a Ameritrade account and earn 10000 Starwood points. (see the ameritrade deal here)
10000 Starwood points get you 3 nights at a category 2 starwood hotel. It's also equivalent to 12500 airline miles. Not bad for a free loan!
Before you apply for a card offering 0% APR, you first need
1) a credit card that earns you airline miles or hotel points. (See Credit Card Deals section)
2) take the money out and open an Ameritrade brokerage account.
Ameritrade option
Pro: Only need to keep the money in there for 6 months
Con: Earn interest at rate around 1% or less? money market rate basically.
